On January 2nd, 2025, the Umuagu Hall in Nnobi was abuzz with activity as the community gathered for a highly anticipated medical outreach event. Sponsored by Chief Charles Ezeonyim (Ezemgbede Nnobi) and Idemili Foundation DMV, Washington DC Metro, United States, the outreach aimed to provide essential healthcare services to the residents of Nnobi.

The event saw a significant turnout, with community members consulting with our resident doctor, Dr. Osy Nwosu, and visiting pharmacist, Dr. Ogenna Omenugha. Attendees were screened for basic vitals, blood sugar levels, and blood pressure, and underwent eye checks. This comprehensive health screening was crucial in identifying and addressing various health concerns within the community.

In addition to the screenings, patients received a range of medications, including anti-malaria, anti-hypertensive, analgesics, and anti-diabetic drugs. These medications were provided to help manage and treat common health issues prevalent in the area.

A notable highlight of the outreach was the distribution of more than 100 reading eye glasses, given out for free to those in need. This initiative aimed to improve the vision and overall quality of life for many community members.

Furthermore, about 150 members of the community received the Anambra State Health Insurance card, ensuring they have access to healthcare services beyond the outreach event. This initiative is a significant step towards achieving better healthcare coverage for the residents of Nnobi.

The attached charts show the distribution of blood pressure and blood sugar levels among patients. While blood sugar levels appear acceptable (considering many results were random and not fasting), blood pressure test results are concerning.

The occasion was graced by the presence of HRH Igwe Engr. Nick Obi, whose support and encouragement added to the success of the event. His presence underscored the importance of community involvement and collaboration in achieving health and wellness goals.

It is important to note that follow-up care is crucial for members of the community who were found to have high blood pressure readings or were in a hypertensive crisis. Providing medications and continuous monitoring for these individuals is essential to prevent serious health complications such as heart attacks, strokes, and kidney damage. Ensuring that these patients receive the necessary treatment and support can significantly improve their quality of life and reduce the risk of life-threatening conditions.

The January 2nd, 2025 medical outreach at Umuagu Hall Nnobi was a resounding success, thanks to the generous sponsorship of Chief Charles Ezeonyim and the dedicated efforts of the Ezemgbede Nnobi and Idemili Foundation DMV. The event not only provided immediate healthcare services but also laid the foundation for ongoing health improvements within the community.
